Judges should be like the law, invisible, and not taking the boundaries of equity beyond that of case law, prima facea evidence, or community norms and standards.


Justices of the peace provide a vital variation on the basic judicial functions at a more direct, and community-based level...the impact of which cannot be underestimated. Conversely, this impact should not be overestimated by any justice of the peace, judge, or any officer of the law for that matter!


Just as the United States' Declaration of Independence said some 200-some years ago, that people have the right to either govern themselves, or to elect a new government:


 "Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, That whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their safety and happiness."
